Cardiff Judo Academy Interclub

We’ve had a great morning of Judo at the National Dojo, hosted by Cardiff Judo Academy.

The event was well attended with judoka from Bradley Stock Judo Club, Cardiff Judo Academy, Dragons Academy, EGH Judo, Judo Swansea, Maesteg Judokwai and Swindon Judo Club.

The session was jointly taken by the attending coaches where our judoka worked on tachiwaza (throwing) and newaza (groundwork) followed by lots of Randori (sparring)

We followed the training with a mini comp, grouping players into grade and weight. We had two competitors, Ethan and Cedric.

In his first competition, Ethan was outstanding scoring with some good throws and transitioning into hold downs. He ended the day winning two bouts and loosing one.

Cedric went in the yellow/orange belt pool winning 4 bouts, giving him some confidence going into next weeks Welsh International Open.

The mini comp was run by higher grade juniors from our clubs, Tom did a fantastic job helping out the younger judoka in their first comp.

Today’s event provided opportunities for our judoka to improve their Judo and learn about competition judo. A big thank you to Tom Hughes of Cardiff Judo Academy for organising.
